Assembly is pretty simple, and the final product fits nicely around the BMCC without obstructing any of the ports, doors, buttons, or screen. Although there are cheaper BMCC cages available, I would say the build quality of this new BMC Cage is at a very professional level, could easily match any of the more expensive brand names.

The BMC Cage strikes an ideal balance between strength and weight while providing for a versatile range of accessories for the Blackmagic Cinema Cameras. It is easy to customize the BMC Cage with an array of 1/4-20" & 3/8"-16 mounting points. This makes it simple to incorporate accessories like EVF's, monitors, recorders, handgrips, etc...

The BMC Cage comes with a 15mm LWS rail block allowing you to mount accessories such a follow focus, map box, lens support! The Advanced version comes with a 15mm LWS rail block allowing you to mount accessories, such as batteries, while keeping the display clear. The options are endless!
