4.Magnetic Dress Up Dolls Experience From My Customer:

 

Following up immediately on the success of the felt dress up dolls I made for my daughter  recently, I decided to print some paper dolls for her to have another dress up doll game.  The website Making Friends has some fabulous and free printable dolls and they have a  great section on multicultural dolls which I thought would be great fun to start off with.

 

In order to make the paper dolls sturdier and add a new dimension to the game I laminated  them and added magnets on the back with sticky tape. I then bought the largest baking sheet I could find in town and away we went with dressing up. One of the very great aspects aboutthe magnets is that the tray can be carried around and the pieces don’t fly away everywhere. 

Here’s a picture from the first tray although we have added many more clothes since then.

This game once again reinforced the idea that learning really is everywhere with interest-led activities. This game utilizes imagination, coordination, the ability to organise and of course fashion sense . It has added new vocabulary as we talk about kimonos, saris and garlands. It has also sparked conversations about where each of these new friends live and their culture. We pulled out our old Peters Projection Map and identified the countries where each of the friends came from.

 

As we have added even more clothes and people, Keeyah's interest in different people and  the way they dress, speak and the diversity world we live in has been ignited.
