IXPE underlayment is a premium silent underlayment made up of sound dampening high-performance cross-linked foam with an overlapping film for extra moisture protection at the joints. The extra fine foam offers advanced moisture protection and shock absorption.

Installation Instruction:

* Concrete must be dry with moisture emission rates that do not exceed 3lbs/1000sq ft/24 hrs as measured by Anhydrous Calcium Chloride Test

* Start in the corner of the room by rolling out the underlayment with the overlap flap and adhesive strip facing up. Put the overlap flap side of the underlayment against the wall, running it 2 inches up both the starting wall and both end walls. This 2 inch perimeter running up the wall provides a moisture-proof enclosure for the flooring.

* Lay a second row of underlayment alongside the first, (butt the edges together but do not overlap them) with the overlap flap facing the first row. The overlap film will lie over the adhesive strip from the first row. Allow for the ends to wrap up the end walls to maintain the 2 inch perimeter of underlayment around the room.

* Fold back the overlap flap to expose the peel and stick adhesive strip. Remove the white protective cover from the adhesive strip, and lay the overlap flap across the first row of underlayment. Press into place. Repeat steps 4 and 5 row by row until the entire floor area is covered.

* After the flooring is installed, trim the excess underlayment back to the height of the finished floor. Do this prior to installing bse or molding.

 

Why we need to use underlay:

All underlay are very cheap compared to wooden flooring, but they do help make your home a healthier, softer, silenter living paradise.

Most of us have walked on a laminate floating floor and commented on the rather annoying clicking sound that tends to emanate from the traffic. Traditional foam underlay will help to somewhat reduce this noise, but more sophisticated sound control underlayments like IXPE underlay will be much more effective.
