Powerful, compact server packed with the performance, reliability and security to fuel any workload
Designed in a compact, versatile 1U two-socket rack server, the System x3550 M5 rack server offers a wide variety of standard and optional configurations. Run almost any workload from infrastructure to high performance computing to Cloud or Big Data with leadership reliability, security and efficiency. Integrated with up to two Intel E5-2600 v3 series CPUs with faster, energy-efficient TruDDR4 Memory, the x3550 M5 delivers amazing levels of performance. Storage can include up to 12 drives in an impressive selection of sizes and types.
Smart design adds flexibility for workload-tuned performance
The x3550 M5 incorporates energy smart features for minimized costs and efficient performance. Dual fan zones support operation in up to 40°C environments. Available 80 PLUS Titanium power supply units (PSUs) can deliver 96 percent efficiency at 50 percent load. With twice the memory, up to 130 percent greater performance, and 50 percent more cores and cache per system than the previous generation, the x3550 M5 lets your workloads fly.
Leverage leading security and reliability
The x3550 M5 integrates leadership security and reliability features. Exclusive System x features and practices ensure that all server firmware is securely built, digitally signed and verified prior to execution. You can also deploy self-encrypting drives using the optional IBM Security Key Lifecycle Manager (SKLM). System x servers achieved the highest reliability of any x86 server. Diagnostic tools facilitate reduced downtime.
