AESTHETICS
The sleek design of the Optical Flap Barrier enhances the look of any lobby or entrance area. If the hand polished exterior satin stainless cladding is matched with black solid surface acrylic lid, it will be more beautiful
OPERATION
When a valid credential is presented, the stainless steel arms quickly open but silently. As the user passes through the turnstile, the barriers either smoothly return to the closed position (ready for the next valid credential), or, if another credential has been presented, the barriers remain open for the next users’
INTUITIVE FOR USERS AND STAFF
Use of the Optical Flap Barrier is highly intuitive for users and staff. Illuminated status icons on the lid and audible sounds prompt users, and provide clear notification of card status. The various alarm conditions (e.g., unauthorized entry; loitering in lane; tailgating, etc.) are differentiated by light flashing patterns and through the use of sounds which differentiate depending on the type of alarm. The Optical Flap Barriers comes with standard sounds or users can substitute their own custom audio.
THROUGHPUT
The Optical Flap Barrier supports very rapid user throughput. The arms sOptical Flap very quickly and optic processing is instantaneous. To further enhance throughput, the turnstile supports “stacking” of valid entries, meaning the turnstile can queue multiple valid entries without requiring the panels to cycle after each individual patron passage. Additionally, if a subsequent valid credential is presented during the barrier arm closing cycle, the arms stop in mid-cycle and immediately reopen; users do not need to wait until the opening/closing process completes.
PASSAGE MODES
The Optical Flap Barrier has multiple passage modes. The turnstile can provide controlled operation in both directions (card in/card out). It can also provide controlled entry with free passage exit for applications where users are not required to “credential out" for exit. In free passage mode, users can walk directly into the passage lane at a normal pedestrian pace and the panels will automatically open without requiring the user to slow down. Individual turnstiles or select travel directions (e.g., entry as opposed to both entry and exit) can also be closed during off hours or slow periods.
UNWANTED ENTRY DETERRENCE
The Optical Flap Barrier is also highly effective at deterring and detecting unwanted entry. Proud’s sophisticated detection technology detects unauthorized access attempts and "tailgating" behind an authorized user. In the event of an invalid entry or exit attempt, the turnstile lights and sounds notify the user and alert attendants. Additional notification outputs are also provided, alloOptical Flap integration with remote alarms, door locks, CCTV or other devices.
SAFETY
The Optical Flap Barrier has a number of safety features. Multiple sensors and sophisticated detection algorithms prevent panels from closing on people. In addition, the turnstile has a dedicated emergency input for fire/life safety. If the emergency input is triggered (e.g. via fire alarm system), the barrier panels retract to allow free egress.
INSTALLATION AND COMMISSIONING
The Optical Flap Barrier provides a very straightforward install. Instead of having to "tweak" each and every turnstile (e.g. adjust home/end panel positions), the Optical Flap Barrier is nearly perfect right out of the crate. Proud takes great pride in keeping things simple for installers to minimize deployment time and avoid unnecessary complications. The Optical Flap Barrier’s standard operation settings are ideal for the majority of applications, but adjustments can be made through easy-to-use utilities.
EMBEDDED IP-BASED COMMUNICATION
Embedded IP-based communication and configuration functionality is built into all turnstiles, making it possible to adjust core turnstile settings via a local and/or remote TCP/IP network session.
INTEGRATION WITH ACCESS CONTROL AND VISITOR MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS
The Optical Flap Barrier easily integrates with nearly any access control system. Each side of the turnstile allows interior (under the lid) installation of a mullion sized proximity reader at each end of the turnstile. Larger, or non-proximity-type, readers can be accommodated on top of the turnstile lid or through the use of an integrated pedestal.
OPTIONS & CUSTOMIZATIONS
The Optical Flap Barrier has over a dozen available options. Alternate lid colours and materials, colour ponder coated cabinets, barrier side panel etching, static or dynamic side panel illumination, multiple barrier heights, and an integrated barcode reader are just an example of some of the available options.
Control And Monitoring Software
Control And Monitoring Software is a desktop application typically installed at a guard or attendant desk that allows Speed Gates to be monitored and controlled from a single PC. Control And Monitoring has an intuitive graphic interface that gives desk attendants a current status of all turnstiles, including an immediate notification of alarm conditions. Control And Monitoring also includes the ability to set up scheduling templates that allow turnstile mode changes to be implemented automatically.
ENTRY AREA RAILING / BARRIERS
Modular post and rail and custom fabricated barrier sections are available to fill in open areas around installed turnstiles and gates. Learn more in our barrier and railing section.
