Product Introduction 1.Metakaolin (metakaolin, abbreviated MK) is kaolin (Al2O3 · 2SiO2 · 2H2O, AS2H2) as raw materials, at an appropriate temperature (600 ~ 900 ℃) of anhydrous aluminum silicate formed by dehydration (Al2O3 · 2SiO2, AS2). Kaolin belongs to phyllosilicates structure, combined with the van der Waals bond between the layers, OH- ions which combine a little bit more firmly. When kaolin is heated in air, several structural changes occur, heated to about 600 ℃, kaolin layered structure and damage due to dehydration, forms a transition phase poor crystallinity - metakaolin. Since the molecules are arranged metakaolin is irregular, showing the thermodynamic metastable state, having gelling at an appropriate excitation.

2.Metakaolin is a highly reactive mineral admixtures, is an amorphous silicate through low temperature calcined kaolin formed with high pozzolanic activity, mainly for concrete admixtures, can also produce high-performance low-fat polymer.

Application in agriculture

In the upcoming decades, growers will be expected to produce exponentially more food to meet the changes of the growing population. Kaolin can help address some of these challenges.

In seed coatings, kaolin is used for increasing seed size to improve handling and plantability. Coated seeds are better protected against adverse field conditions while improving germination.

Spray dried kaolin grades are ideal for use as a diluent/carrier in pesticides. The platey morphology and higher surface area allows for good absorption of the active ingredient.

In urea fertilizer, the addition of Kaolin in the final steps of the manufacturing process can help retain the granular nature of the fertilizer and prevent caking.

Other Applications The main use of the mineral kaolinite is the production of paper; its use ensures the gloss on some grades of coated paper.

Kaolin is used (or was used in the past):

3)as a light diffusing material in white incandescent light bulbs

4)in cosmetics

5)in paint to extend the titanium dioxide (TiO2) white pigment and modify gloss levels

6)for modiying the properties of rubber upon vulcanization

7)in adhesives to modify rheology

8)in organic farming as a spray applied to crops to deter insect damage, and in the case of apples, to prevent sun scald

9)as whitewash in traditional stone masonry homes in Nepal (the most common method is to paint the upper part with white kaolin clay and the middle with red clay; the red clay may extend to the bottom, or the bottom may be painted black)

10)as a filler in Edison Diamond Discs

11)as an indicator in radiological dating since kaolinite can contain very small traces of uranium and thorium

12)for facial masks or soap

13)as adsorbents in water and wastewater treatment[50]
