Expanded metal fence is produced by simultaneously slitting and stretching metal to form a diamond shaped cutout pattern on the metal. This type of fencing is more greater strength and durability. Expanded metal fence advantages also include low wind-resistance, one-piece construction and ventilation properties.

Expanded metal fence may be produced from metals such as stainless steel alloys, aluminum, steel, titanium and many other ferrous or non-ferrous metals. Depending on use and aesthetics, the cutout pattern may be varied from a traditional diamond shaped pattern to nearly any other shape or pattern.

Because of its high strength and shielding properties, expanded metal fence is often used in high security applications such as railroad right-of-ways, international borders, high-voltage enclosures and detention centers.
