 Hydrant Keys and bars are used to operate underground hydrant valves. They are sold with an aluminium bar, which is pushed through the recess at the top of the key and used as a leverage point.

Used to turn on a hydrant water supply, the key and bar assembly fits the standard outlet size for underground valves that meet BS 750. The upright section is known as the key and this is 1024mm long. The bar is slotted at one end to be used to prise open the hydrant cover and, cleverly, fits inside the bar section when not in use.
