Canister anodes for direct burial are particularly suitable for use in low resistivity soils, vertical installation in augered holes or where the construction of an open groundbed trench. They will reduce installation costs by providing the anode and coke backfill in a self contained package. The coke backfill provides a homogenous environment for the impressed current anodes and can substantially lower the anode to earth resistance. Canisters ensure the anodes are evenly surrounded with the proper amount of coke breeze backfill. The canisters may be supplied in a variety of diameters and lengths to suit the specific anode/groundbed design.

The galvanized steel canisters are supplied with 219mm in diameter,2000mm in lengthand 1.5mm in thickness to suit the specific anode design.
Backfill
Metallurgical coke backfill is tamped around the anode within the steel canister.

The principle of impressed current cathodic protection is in connecting an external anode to the material to be protected from corrosion and passing of an external ( impressed ) electrical DC current.
The high silicon content ensures that the alloy forms a protective film containing silicon dioxide, SiO2. The film has high resistivity and chemistry stability, which is in passive state under acid conditions, so it can reduce the dissolving rate for anode. Moreover, after covered by Chromium, the protection film of SiO2 of HSCI is develped to resist corrosion from alkali and chloride ion, so that anode can be applied for strong choloride conditions. Therefore, HSCI Anode with Chromium adapts to all kinds of land and water environments.
