Using a traditional process that was passed down from the Edo period,
our finished fabrics feel exceptionally soft to the touch.
The fabric, which is painstakingly produced using a four day process,
is almost entirely free of harmful chemicals and is safe for babies,
even if they were to put it in their mouths.
Producing in Aichi, the home of Ieyasu Tokugawa,
we are one of only a few such producers in Japan.
A chemical-free gauze that is safe enough for a baby to put in its mouth.
We have created a fabric that is in a totally chemical-free condition, and the more it is washed,
the fluffier and softer it becomes. Fabric softener is unnecessary.
We also recommend this product for the following:
•Those with sensitive skin or those who dislike synthetic fibers.
•As a gift for the elderly.
•For children and infants that must be handled delicately.
•Those who feel too cool using gels or other high-performance materials.
•Those who sleep with a light covering during summer.
•Those who want summer bedding that breathes well.
•Those who prefer high quality, made-in-Japan products.
"Bleaching" refers to the washing process in which impurities, excess dye,
and the peculiar smell of cotton are removed. Typically, in the "Western bleaching" process,
strong chemicals are used to complete the process within an hour.
However, with Japanese-style bleaching, the amount of chemicals is minimized,
and the fabric is washed tens of times, then soaked in a kiln.
The fact that we still practice this ancient craft places us among Aichi's
longest-standing companies, with a history of over 100 years.
The "Japanese-style bleaching" process uses minimal chemicals
and a slow four-day procedure that minimizes stress on the fibers
and allows for a uniform application of pressure,
resulting in less breakage among individual fibers.
Through this process, it is possible to create a fabric
that has both toughness and fine texture.
With repeated use and washing, the fabric will incorporate more air,
making it increasingly soft and fluffy without the use of fabric softeners.
