Properties of Alumina 99.5%
Alumina has a high melting point, high hardness and high mechanical strength, although mechanical strength is reduced at temperatures above 1000°C. Due to the relatively large coefficient of thermal expansion, thermal shock resistance is reduced.
Alumina is an electrically insulating material, with a high electrical resistivity, increasing with purity.
Good chemical stability of alumina, leads to a high corrosion resistance. It is insoluble in water and only slightly soluble in strong acid and alkaline solution.
Alumina represents the most commonly utilized ceramic material in industry. Purity levels are available from 85% through 99.9%. This is because of extremely superior abrasion, high temperature and chemical resistance. It is electrically insulating as well. This material has an excellent cost to part life performance record.
99.5% Alumina Applications
Alumina is the most mature of the engineering ceramics, offering excellent electrical insulation properties together with high hardness and good wear resistance but relatively low strength and fracture toughness.

Different Types of Alumina
Aluminas are generally white but are sometimes pink (88% alumina) or brown (96% Alumina). The colour is derived from either the sintering additives or impurities in the raw materials.
Frequently,99% Alumina, high purity Alumina is used in the production of wear resistant components as it has been developed explicitly for chemically and physically abrasive environments. These components include shafts, plungers, bearings and counterface seals in applications where chemically and physically aggressive media feature. These components are used in the manufacture of products such as circulating pumps, reciprocating pumps and resonator supports.
Such components are used frequently within the water management, medical, automotive, telecoms and household appliance applications. If you are interested in using 99% Alumina high purity Alumina in your 99% Alumina offers extreme hardness and resistance to wear once again demonstrating the versatility of Alumina ceramic.
