Overview of NEs and Interfaces

Huawei GGSN9811 Huawei GGSN PGP-8 PGP-X16

 

This describes the network elements (NEs) that cooperate with the GGSN9811 and the related interfaces.
The GGSN9811 interworks with the following NEs:

  • SGSN: The GGSN9811 cooperates with the serving GPRS support node (SGSN) to set up a GPRS Tunneling Protocol (GTP) tunnel and manage the Packet Data Protocol (PDP) contexts.
  • OCS: The GGSN9811 cooperates with the online charging system (OCS) to carry out Diameter online charging.
  • CG: The GGSN9811 cooperates with the charging gateway (CG) to perform the charging function.
  • AAA server: The GGSN9811 cooperates with the authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA) server to carry out the IP address assignment, authentication, and charging services for mobile stations (MSs).
  • DHCP server: The GGSN9811 cooperates with the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server to assign IP addresses for MSs.
  • BM-SC: The GGSN9811 cooperates with the broadcast/multicast service center (BM-SC) to perform multimedia broadcast function.
  • PCRF: The GPRS/UMTS cooperates with the policy charging rules function (PCRF) to perform policy and charging control (PCC) function.
  • Service servers on the PDN: The GGSN9811 cooperates with the service servers on the packet data network (PDN) to implement the data services.
  • L2TP network server (LNS) on the PDN: The GGSN9811 cooperates with the L2TP network server (LNS) on the PDN to perform the Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP) virtual private network (VPN) function.
  • DNS on the PDN: The GGSN9811 cooperates with the domain name server (DNS) to identify network domain names.

The GGSN9811 interworks with NEs through logical interfaces and physical interfaces. The logical interfaces include the Gn/Gp, Gmb, Gy, Ga, Gi, Gx, and G interfaces. The GGSN9811 interworks with:

  • SGSN through physical interfaces and the Gn/Gp interface.
  • Broadcast/multicast service center (BM-SC) through the physical interface and the Gmb interface.
  • OCS through physical interfaces and the Gy interface.
  • CG through physical interfaces and the Ga interface.
  • PCRF through physical interfaces and the Gx interface.
  • AAA server through physical interfaces and the Gi interface.

Nodes, including service servers, L2TP network server (LNS), and domain name server (DNS), on the packet data network (PDN) through physical interfaces, the Gi interface, and the G interface.

 

The BTS3900 is applicable to the indoor scenarios such as centralized installation and relocation of the macro BTS, as shown in Figure 1-1.

The BTS3900 supports –48 V DC power input and the modules. The modules of the BBU3900 and CRFU are installed in a centralized way in an indoor cabinet. As the most compact indoor macro BTS in the industry, the BTS3900 features a large capacity, good extensibility, light weight, and a small size.
In addition, the BTS3900 can be stacked and combined to save space, as shown in Figure 1-2.
