The African Kenyan Maasai dog collars are handmade by skilled artisans
The artisans are made up skilled beadwork ladies from different communities living around Thogoto slum and are trained by some Maasai women who accepted to pass the skill to them. They earn a decent living from doing the beadwork and feed, cloth and offer shelter to their families.
The leather used to make the collars is done from a reknown leather factory owned by among many companies of Aga Khan. This is the Leather Industry of Kenya based in Thika industrial town.
The buckles making the collars are also locally made by skilled smiths and are made from pure Brass.
Measurements:
Widths: 0.75 inch, 1 inch, 1.25 inch, 1.5 inch, 1.75 inch and 2 inch
Lengths: Range from 12 inches to 22 inches
The length of the collars is mainly from the fold of leather to buckle to the middle hole.
