Working Principles
A brazed plate heat exchanger is composed of a number of stainless steel plates, which have a pressed pattern of arrow ridges. The stainless steel plates are of identical shape,but a following plate has been turned 180° relative the antecedent one. Therefore,although the plates are stacked to contact each other, channels and contact points are formed between them. After stacking, the plates are joined at the contact points by the brazing material in the high vacuum brazing stove.
This illustration shows how the two fluids pass the heat exchanger. The hot fluid passes from the port on the right of the het exchanger through every other channel created by the plates to the opposite end port on the right of the heat exchanger (looking at it the long way). The cold fluid passes from the port on the left through the other channels created by the plates and comes out the other port on the left side. The fluids are essentially touching each other through the plates and heat is transfrred from the hot fluid to the cold fluid.
