A heat pump allows you to heat your pool or spa economically. 5. How does a heat pump heat the pool & spa water?

6. How long will it take to heat the pool & spa?
The initial start-up heating time will differ, depending on the size of the pool, the air temperature at the time that you are trying to heat your pool. And some other considerations affect the time also, such as Pool location, Indoor or outdoor pool, surrounding water table level, windy exposed site or sheltered, desired pool operating temperature, required season to use the pool, whether the pool is covered when not in use and at night, whether it is equipped solar or thermal cover. However, once your pool reaches the target temperature you, the run time can be as little as only a few hours per day.

7. How to reduce heat lost of my pool?
Your pool's heat loss is directly related to the pools surface area due to evaporative heat loss. By using a pool cover your operational cost of using a heat pump can be cut by more than 50%. It will also reduce evaporative loss of water out of your pool.

8. Is it difficult to install a heat pump?
Not at all, the heat pump needs a solid concrete base or can be laid on paving slabs. The unit then needs an electrical supply and it is best to get a qualified electrician to install this. And then you only need to finish the plumbing connection with your pool. Please note the heat pump should be installed after the filter and as the last item before the water returns to the pool.

9. Will it be damaged if my heat pump installed outdoors?
No, all of Alto heat pumps are designed to go outdoors and are weatherproof. They will operate perfectly well in all weather conditions including heavy rain and wind etc. We recommend that you cover your heat pump with one of our specially designed winter covers during winter when the heat pump is not in use. This will give your heat pump some additional protection against the weather.
