Carbon graphite / fiber or graphite fiber is a material with superb strength to weight ratio where amazing stiffness can be achieved through the alignment of carbon atoms. It all starts with a "pre cursor" material, typically a Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) that gets converted into carbonized filament. Add up a whole bunch of these carbon filaments and you have carbon "tow". The process pictured below highlights how these carbon tows are manufactured. We do not do this step in the processing.
