parting line

parting line is very important to chair mould. it's crucial to avoid any sharp edge, which will be very dangerous when it comes to household furniture. we focus on several points in this regard.  1.  with our accumulated chair mould experiences and abundant chair mould database, we deisgn the most suitable parting line for each individual arm chair mould. 2. the thickness of the cavity and cores should be enough to stand the force and remain unchanged. 3. normally, we do 3 stages CNC milling. before the steel heat treatment, we do the first stage rough milling, and the second stage milling, we call it harf precision milling, during this stage, we normally leave 0.3 mm , then do steel stress releasing, the last stage is high precision CNC milling. during this stage, we have to operate cooling function on the milling area constantly, and the depth of each cutting should never exceed 0.08mm. because the steel is vulnerable to deforming while milling and the hardening, which will cause in-accurate fitting of cores and cavities.when this happened , there will be alot of hand work required. and it is unlikely get perfect parting line form hand work.

wall thickness

the wall thickness of plastic chair product should be as even as possible, uneven wall thickness will result in unbalanced plastic melt injection, and uneven cooling time in different parts, which will cause the slowing down of injection speed and prolonged cycle time. as well as the appearance of shrinkage marks.  so we have to consider the chair mould wall thickness seriously at the very beginning of arm chair and arm chair mould design . though sometimes, it is required that some parts to be thicker , so that the chair can be strong enough, then we will have to consider carefully where it should be. the most important thing about getting an even wall thickness is to to high precision and high speed CNC milling. it is unlikely to get even wall thickness by rough milling.

the weight and strenth

how to get a strong chair with less weight. we need to consider this at the beginning of deisgn, you can make the bottom area stronger by adding ribs, but how about the backrest, armrest and legs. to cope this problem, we need to calculate and analyze the force of each area, in order to get a stronger chair with less weight.

backrest venting

for some chairs, the backrest design is very complex, there are alot of joining lines during cavity filling, result in some air cann't vent out. to deal with this issue. we need to do mold-flow analysis sometimes, there will be alot of venting points needed in the backrest area.

to keep the chair mould finishing long lasting

to make sure the cavities and cores will not be corroded by plastic material during production.we use high chrome steel, and normally the hardness is above HRC 33. if the plastic material used is corrosive,  you will need your chair mould to be hard chrome-plated, otherwise , you will need to do the polishing from time to time.
