cast iron hand powered hand well pump
How to Assemble a Pitcher Pump A typical pitcher pump has a solid, cast iron body with only a few movable parts. The simplicity of its design gives a pitch pump long-lasting functionality. It gets its name because of how closely it resembles a large pitcher. In light of its streamlined design, any pitcher pump is straightforward to assemble, requiring only a few common tools and a few minutes of time. Pitcher pumps are most commonly used for shallow wells where the water is roughly 25 feet or closer below the pump.
Instructions
1 Thread the well casing adapter through the hole at the bottom of the pitcher pump and tighten it with a pair of large water pump pliers.
2 Align the mounting holes in the flapper valve with the two holes found inside the pitcher pump at the bottom. Secure the flapper valve with the provided screws and a Philips screwdriver.
3 Slide the plunger into the pump's body and fit the metal plunger pole through the hole in the lid. Place the lid onto the top of the pitcher pump and push it down firmly.
4 Bolt the top of the handle to the metal plunger pole using the provided bolt and nut. Do this by gripping the bolt head with a socket wrench and socket, holding the nut in place with an adjustable wrench and turning the socket wrench clockwise until the bolt is tight.
5 Bolt the middle of the pump handle to the top of the pitcher pump using the provided bolt and nut with a socket wrench and socket and an adjustable wrench.
