What is Respiratory exerciser?
The Respiratory exerciser is used to carry out independent and controlled respiratory exercises for bedridden patients. Superficial and therefore inadequate respiration results in insufficient ventilation of the deeper- lying areas of the lungs. Secretions (in particular mucous) can accumulate in the lower regions of the lungs, making the lung tissue susceptible to infection.
This product is suitable for the patient who has a decline in lung function due to chest lung disease, surgery, anesthesia and mechanical ventilation, do the recovery training of the lung respiratory function.
What is the Respiratory exerciser's performance?
1. It helps the patient to recover normal respiration after a chest or abdominal surgery.
2. It encourages deep and prolonged inspiration.
3. Three chamber design allows the patient to lift the balls without any resistance to achieve the maximum volume in minimum time.
4. Three chamber design helps the patient in monito ring their development.
5. The small-size design proves economical in maintenance and storage costs.
6. It incorporates a container to place the mouthpiece after being washed which has a lower overture to drain the spared cleaning water drops and maintains hygienity.
Patients should exercise several times daily using this breathing therapy device.
Lung capacity will improve and breathing will become easier.
1.Six kinds of standards( 200cc/sec,400cc/sec,600cc/sec,800cc/sec,1000cc/sec,1200cc/sec)
2.Size:150mm(L)*105mm(W)*145mm(H)
3.Weight: net weight=87g / gross weight=154g
It consists of plastice shell, one balls, mouthpiece and connection tube.
How to use?
1)Take out the Breathing single Ball incentive spirometer from the box and connect one end of the tube to the base outlet of the exerciser. It is best to perform an SMI in an upright(i.e,sitting)position. Your doctor or therapist will advise you which position is best for you.
2)As per your doctor or therapist's advice for respiratory setting, follow his or her directions. You may select an inspiratory flow setting by turning the spirometer top to match the black number with the black arrow. Choose a setting that allows you to pull the ball to the top of the Spirometer.
3) Place the mouthpiece in your mouth and from a normal resting expiration ,inspire at a slow yet sufficient rate to raise the ball off the bottom of the spirometer
4)Continue inspring to keep the ball afloat. The longer the ball is up,the greater your inspired volume will be.
5) If instructed to do so,hold this breath for a few seconds before exhaling.
How to calculate?
Calculate your inspirate volume, multiply your inspiratory time(in second)by the inspiratory folw setting(in cc/second).
For example:
If you inspire a slow, deep breath at a folw setting of 200cc/second for 5seconds:
inspiratory time "flow setting= inspiratory volume 5sec" 200cc/sec=1000cc or 1liter
Avoid Fatigue and Hyperventilation
Allow time between inspiratory maneuvers. One SMI repeated with a break of at least one minutes between efforts will reduce fatigue and the risk of hyperventilation.
Follow your clinician's instruction carefully.
As your condition improves, you may rotate the flow selector to a larger number to achieve greater volumes.
Follow your clinician's instruction carefully.
