Actuator Details

Q: What if I need an actuator using a Stroke length or Force that you don't stock?

A: We have many other actuator configurations available, and we'd be happy to make a Custom Order for you. Please visit our

Custom Orders section or contact us with your requirements.

Q: How can I mount your linear actuators?

A: Every linear actuator we sell features mounting holes on each end of the actuator body. Combine these with our mounting

brackets (with a 180° turning radius) and you have a full range of mounting solutions. Remember to mount the actuator on

something that can bear its weight too.

Q: Do your actuators come with internal limit switches? How do they work?

A: All GEMING actuators come equipped with built-in limit switches. The limit switch stops the actuator once it has hit the end

of its complete travel length in either direction, until polarity is reversed. This prevents damage from over-extension and also

conserves electricity for low power consumption applications.

Q: What are the actuator dimensions and/or specifications?

A: The technical data section of our website contains measurement details, product specifications, and wiring schematics. This

includes actual CAD model drawings of each product. Each individual product page also has a link to its own specifications,

Q: How can I reduce the speed of an actuator?

A: All units currently stocked take 12V DC power. This means that if you use say, a 6V power supply, the actuator will operate

half of its rated speed. For custom orders we can also change the gear ratio from the electric motor.

Q: How do I connect a linear actuator to a rocker switch?

A: For GEMING switches you can simply visit our technical data section and find an assortment of wiring diagrams and guides.

Q: Can the actuator hold a load when partially or fully extended?

A: All GEMING actuators can hold their rated Force weight when stopped at any point along its stroke length. If your actuator is

rated for 400 lbs, it will hold that amount when stopped, even if the power is disconnected.

Q: Do the same model of actuators all operate at identical speeds?

A: Unfortunately due to the complexity of the components involved two similar size/force/speed actuators might actually operate

at slightly different speeds. At the outside this variance can be as much as 15%, though it is often much less noticable. One

way around this is to introduce a DC Speed Controller which would allow you to moderate one of the actuator's speed to match

the other's. We have DC Speed Controllers in our Actuator Control Systems section of the site. One thing to keep in mind as well

is that the speed of the actuator will be different when unloaded as compared to when it is pushing load. Your unloaded actuators

may not operate at the same speed, but as soon as they are pushing weight their differences in speed may disappear.

Q: I have an actuator with a 4 pin connector but no control box. How do I control it?

A: Some actuators (ours included) come with a 4-pin connector designed specifically for use with 4-pin control boxes, like the ones

we sell in our Actuator Control Systems section. If you want to operate the actuator without a control

box you can simply remove the 4 pin connect with scissors or cable cutters and connect the bare positive/negative wires to your

power source.

Q: Can I connect an actuator to one of your control box even though it doesn't have a 4 pin connector?

A: Unfortunately our control boxes require a 4-pin connector in order to function properly. However, you can find separate

connectors to mount onto your actuator from our Accessories section.
