LYC thrust ball bearing is separable including a shaft washer (fit with journal) a housing washer (fit with bearing block) a group of steel balls and a cage which make it very convenient to fit with journal and bearing block respectively.

LYC thrust ball bearings due to different structures can be divided into single direction thrust ball bearings double directions thrust ball bearings and angular contact thrust ball bearings.

Single Direction Thrust Ball Bearings

Single direction thrust ball bearings can only be used to carry axial load in one direction but radial load. It can make an axial location in one direction.

Single direction thrust ball bearings have planar housing washer and aligning seat washer. Generally planar housing washer can not allow any angular error; however when designing bracing structures a gap of 0.5-1mm between the outer diameter of housing washer and the fitting surface of bearing block can be kept out to correct the angular errors which would be made when mounting. Attention please aligning housing washer need to be ordered additionally.

Double-Direction Thrust Ball Bearings

Double-direction thrust ball bearing can carry axial loads in double directions but it can not carry radial load. Double-direction thrust ball bearings can make axial location in two directions.

Double-direction thrust ball bearings also have planar housing washer and self-aligning seat washer. Angular Contact Thrust Ball Bearings

Angular contact thrust ball bearing mainly carry axial load and it also can carry certain radial load. Compared with thrust ball bearings of the same dimension the allowable limiting speed is higher. It can make an axial location in one direction.

Angular contact thrust ball bearings can make up the weakness of thrust ball bearings with flat back face which can not carry radial loads. The contact angles are 45oand 60o. The smaller the degree of contact angle the higher the capacity of radial load is.

Thrust Ball Bearing with Outer Cover

The structure of thrust ball bearing with outer cover is the same with that of single direction thrust ball bearing but there is an outer cover on seat washer (or there are out covers on inner and outer diameters of a seat washer).

Thrust ball bearing with outer covers can carry axial loads in one direction but it can not carry radial loads. It also can make an axial location in one direction.

Cages of thrust ball bearings supplied by LYC are pressed steel cages machined solid cages made of brass or bronze special fabric reinforced phenolic resin cages and etc. Cages of different material are identified by suffix. Further details will be found in LYC catalogue “bearing material”.
