Introduction

Final drive is the final gear train that is between the transmission and the ground. In heavy equipment and automotive, this is the axle assembly and the differential gear that enable the wheels or track sprockets to turn.

 

The  major  components  of  the  final  drive  includethe  pinion  gear,  connected  to  the  drive  shaft,  and  abevel gear or ring gear that is bolted or riveted to thedifferential  carrier.
