Membrane Filter
It is important to use the correct filer for your sample as different membrane types will give different results. Most importantly it is necessary to ensure that the filter does not interfere or bind with your sample and that the solvent used does not affect the integrity of the membrane. Technical support is always available to help with your filer selection.
Nylon Membrane
Nylon membranes of Toption have good chemical compatibility and stability in a wide range of applications. Resistant to alkalis but not resistant to strong acids. Good mechanical strength and thermal stability. Flexible. Resistant to most organic solvents and alkaline solutions.
Suitable for applications for water filtration in electronic, microelectronic and semiconductor industries; filtration of chemical products, tissue culture mediums, liquid medicines, beverages, high-purity chemicals; liquid clarification, sterilization and particulate filtration.
Nylon is a very pure hydrophilic membrane with very low levels of extractable-it is mechanically very strong and can be used in many different applications. The Nylon filer membrane undergoes extensive testing before it is encapsulated to ensure that the level of extractable is unsure passed.
Mixed Cellulose Ester,MCE
Mixed Cellulose Ester (MCE) hydrophilic membrane features low cost, low obstruction, high filtration speed. It is not resistant to organic solutions, strong alkalis or strong acids.
MCE is suitable for use in the analysis of particles and insoluble oils in water solutions, sterilization filtration, particulate and bacterial filtration of gases, oils, beverages, wines and liquors, filtration of environmental water samples, testing of coliforms in water.
Regenerated Cellulose (RC) Membrane
RC membrane features low protein-binding capacity and chemical compatibility. It is suitable for filtration of water-soluble bio samples and organic solvents.
Regenerated cellulose is suitable for a wide variety of laboratory procedures. It is a very low protein binder and therefore ideally suited for analyses that require maximum sample recovery. The membrane possesses good solvent resistance with both aqueous and organic solvents, and is able to work over a wide PH range.
Polyether Sulfone (PES) Membrane
PES has good hydrophilicity and wide chemical compatibility. It features high flow rate, low extraction, high mechanical strength, and low protein adsorption.
Suitable for applications requiring high flux and efficiency. It is used in filtration of protein solution, pharmaceutics, mineral water, wines and liquors and beverages, sterilization filtration, filtration of chemical materials, tissue culture mediums and additives.
Polyfluortetraethylene (PTFE), Hydrophobic
Strong chemical compatibility, low protein adsorption, good thermal stability.
Suitable for filtration of strong chemically corrosive solvents, gases and vapors.
PTFE is chemically resistant to virtually all solvents and can be used for working with aggressive media such as strong acids and bases. PTFE is hydrophobic and requires pre-wetting (normally by using a small amount of alcohol) before being used with aqueous samples. PTFE filers can also be used to prevent moisture passing through air vents.
Polyvinylidene Difluoride(PVDF) Membrane
PVDF membrane has wide chemical compatibility, very low extractable background and very low protein adsorption. It is suitable for improving reagent grade, air purification (removal of particles in air) and air sterilization in the fermentation industry; removal of impurities and bacteria from organic solvents; concentration of water solutions, separation and recycling of chemical substances; clarification and filtration of foods, medicines, beverages, wines and liquors.
