The Hydro-Flo Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) system can be configured for a tremendous variety of wastewater conditions making it the most versatile piece of wastewater treatment equipment manufactured by Hydro-Flo.  The DAF is a great solution for applications with emulsified oil and solids in the wastewater.  As a separation device it exhibits extremely high solids capture ratios, and will yield the highest level of recovered solids under a wide range of flow conditions. Oil/grease and suspended solids removal rates of greater than 95% are normal. Hydro-Flo has some customer applications reporting 99.9% O&G and SS removal. Because of the outstanding performance and reliability, the DAF is the preferred process for a wide range of industrial treatment problems.

The Hydro-Flo Dissolved Air Flotation System comes standard with an adjustable speed surface flight skimmer, a bottom sludge auger, and influent/effluent and float scum chambers. The standard HydroFloat Dissolved Air Flotation System is supplied with a proprietary design recycle/air induction pressurization system. Optional equipment includes, automatic pH adjusting system, flash & floc mixing chambers, chemical pumps, and a total system control panel.

Preconditioning Requirements
Most DAF applications require preconditioning of the wastewater using a coagulant and a flocculating polymer. The more common coagulants are inorganic salts such as alum, ferric chloride, ferrous sulfate, lime, sodium hydroxide or organic polymers. The preconditioning requirement is usually site specific and will impact operating cost, effluent quality, sludge volume and possibly water reuse.

The Hydro-Flo Dissolved Air Flotation System can handle most difficult wastewater applications as a stand alone system, or with any combination of chemical inputs including liquid polyelectrolytes, dry powders, and organic and inorganic wastewater chemicals with varying injection rates.

Typical DAF Application
This application uses a DAF and flash/floc system to remove free oil, emulsified oil, solids and organic solids at a plastics formulating facility.  The system is designed to treat wastewater for compliance for discharge to a sanitary sewer.  The system is a 70 gpm flow rate, utilizing flash/floc mix, DAF, chemical feeds, pH and flow instrumentation, effluent carbon filter, and a fully automatic main control panel.  The Hydro-Flo products have been in operation since 2005.
