FAJSDCOE 40/45 - PERFORMANCE, ADAPTABILITY, AND BEAUTY!
The 40/45mm Weber – a legendary performer in European Grand Prix racing, is a study in superb design and craftsmanship. One of our most versatile carburetor models, WEBER carburetors are available from WEBER in either 40 or 45mm bore and throttle plate diameter. The "40/45DCOE" suffix indicates that this is a high-performance, 2-barrel side draft carburetor.
The 40/45DCOE carburetor architecture is simple and elegant, with no metering rods, power valves, rubber seals or plastic parts. It features a brass accelerator pump and floats, and its throttle shaft rides in precision roller bearings. Our FAJS carburetors can be set up to work with nearly any engine by virtue of interchangeable venturi and a host of precision tuning parts. Superb throttle response, torque, and horsepower output are the hallmarks of these excellent carbs.
All WEBER 40 and 45 WEBER systems are custom-tailored to suit your application, with jetting, linkage, and overall setup that matches your engine’s needs perfectly –right out of the box! And our exclusive square-bore WEBER carburetor adapter makes it easy to install these high-performance side drafts on any engine that accepts a standard 4 BBL intake!
Custom finish options include chrome, custom paint, and a variety of velocity stack options. WEBER carburetor is also your one-stop source for Weber 40/45DCO parts and accessories –helping you to keep your system performing at its peak.
The Weber 45 FAJS and 40FAJS is a popular choice for MGB owners looking to unleash a bit more power in the admittedly rather prosaic (but reliable) B-Series engine. This was the carb of choice among factory entries and racers in the heyday of the MGB, and coupled with the reliability inherant in the design, it powered the B to many finishes above more tempermental entries by other sportscar manufacturers of the time.
Combined with a large-bore block and a modern high-flow head, the 40FAJS and 45FAJS can really make a difference on the dyno. Whether or not this conversion is cost effective considering the expense and the return in HP, is up to you.
Under normal driving conditions, it is my opinion that a well-maintained pair of HS4 or HIF4 SU carburetors is just as good, if not better than, a 40DCOE and 45DCOE, considering the complication and expense that tuning these race-application carbs can require. If you do not have the expertise or equipment (such as a wide-band oxygen sensor and rolling road) to tune these carbs properly, you may be chasing after settings endlessly - the number of variables in tuning these carbs is large and requires an understanding of the theory of operation.
