BALL MILL
(1) Mill Shell
The mill shell will be of entirely welded construction. Drilling of the shell for the lining plate bolts will be done according to the manufacturer's standard. Manholes are to be incorporated on the mill shell and their positions will be shown in the Contractor's Drawings.
(2) Trunnions (if applicable)
Trunnions will be of flanged connection to the shell.
Trunnions will be designed to have interchangeability to each other, if possible, in order to minimize spares.
(3) Bearings
The trunnion bearings will incorporate swivel blocks of white metal with water cooling. One complete bearing will be fixed at the drive end and the movable one at the other end to release mill expansion. Bearings will be identical in size and design.
Bearing housings will be provided with adequate inspection hinged doors and will include inspection window with lighting. Access platforms from the bearing foundation to the inspection window will be provided.
(4) Bearing Lubrication
Both bearings will be provided with low and high pressure forced lubrication
systems with flow switches, pressure switches and piping.
A standby low pressure pump will be provided for each bearing to operate
automatically in the event of a failure of the main pump. Temperature monitoring will be provided for both trunnions.
(5) Drive
The drive of the mill will be preferably of centre drive.
All gears, centre or side drive, will be designed in accordance with AGMA and will have a service factor of 2.0 at the normal power or as per approved vendor's standard however subject to the Employer's/Engineer's approval.
The mill drive will incorporate auxiliary drive systems consisting of auxiliary gearbox with centrifugal clutch, brake, electric motor and accessories.
(6) Mill Internals
The closed circuit mill will be fitted with the appropriate type of classifying liners.
(7) Linings
Each lining plate will have an elliptical countersunk hole for bolting to the mill shell. The attachment bolt will have a grommet insert type washer on the outside of the shell to prevent leakage.
Lining plates and diaphragms will be of compatible material with hard grinding media.
