OPGW is a type of cable structure with composite of optical transmission and overhead ground wire for power transmission. It’s working in power transmission line both as optical fiber cable and overhead ground wire which can provide protection of lightning strike and conducting short circuit currency.

The OPGW consists of stainless steel tube optical unit, aluminum cladding steel wire, aluminum alloy wire. It has central stainless steel tube structure and layer stranding structure.

According to the technical conditions, we can get the required products without changing the cable structure and composition ratio of aluminum steel section.
Compared with aluminum tube structure, the OPGW cable with thin-walled stainless steel tube structure can bear greater lateral pressure and impact. Stainless steel with low conductivity, high strength, and good corrosion resistance makes the fiber in good protection.
Stainless steel tube filled with ointment can prevent the moisture or water infiltration, and let the cable have a good temperature characteristics through adjusting the fiber length.
Aluminum clad steel wire with High-strength and low-conductivity can bear the load of OPGW dead weight and external load. According to charge skin effect principle, the dredge of overload or fault short circuit current is conducive to the protection of the optical fiber.
Fiber optic cable and conventional overhead ground wire has similar mechanical and electrical characteristics. The dual function of optical cable facilitates the replacement of old ground wires, and the design and installation of the new ground wires.
The well-controlled fiber length ensures the cable can withstand high load and large span.
