ETFE (F-40) is a kind of semicrystalline and semitransparent polymer, which is made by ethylene and tetrafluoroethlene through copolymerization with equal mol ratio. It keeps the good anticorrosion property of polytetrafluoroethylene, and has good heat resistance, wear resistance, radiation resistance and impact resistance and electrical insulation properties. It can apply the forming method of general thermoplastics to carry out machining, without surface self-lubricating ability, and the coefficient of friction is large, the tensile strength can be up to 500MPa. With long-term application temperature of -60~150°C, and thermal decomposition temperature of above 300°C, it almost proofs against all chemical substances.
The raw materials of ETFE (F-40) are produced by America DuPont Company and Japan Asahi Glass Company and are widely applied to the anticorrosive lining for pipes and equipments. This material not only has the excellent chemical properties of polytetrafluoroethylene and also has stronger bonding capacity with metals, so that it may become the perfect composite material with good bonding with metals, which has broad application and prospect in production of anticorrosive lining for chemical industry equipments, sealing parts, pumps, valves, pipes and fittings.
Its main property is as below:
Relative density | Softening temperature | Brittle temperature | Continuous application temperature | Chemical corrosion resistance |
1.73-1.75 | 265-280°C | -100°C | 150°C | Good |
Brinell hardness | Elongation rate | Coefficient of friction | Coefficient of linear expansion | Yield strength |
8.03kg/mm2 | 420-440% | 0.2 | 9.4×10-5/°C | 19-22MPa |
Impact strength | Tensile strength | Water absorption | Dielectric constant | Arc resistance |
93kg·cm/cm2 | 41-47MPa | <0.01 | 2.4-2.6 | 120s |
