The ZnO arrester is mainly used to protect distribution transformer, cable connector and electric equipment from being damaged by lightning impulse voltage and operated over-voltage
Brief Introduction:
The metal zinc oxide arrester is a high-tech product in the mid 1990s in the world. Its main component, metal zinc oxide (MO) resistors have extremely excellent non-linear voltage-current or U-I characteristic. Therefore, compared with traditional SiC arrester, it has been largely improved in the performance of steep wave, lightning wave and operation wave.
In detail, MO resistors have good characteristics, such as good steep wave response, no delayed steep wave voltage, low operation residual voltage and no discharge dispersibility. It overcomes the shortcomings of SiC arresters: high discharge voltage under steep wave resulted from delayed steep wave discharge, high discharge voltage under operation wave resulted from operation wave discharge dispersibility.
ZnO arresters make the protective margin rise to a great extent. Besides, at the insulation coordination, it makes the protective margin of steep wave, lightning wave and operation wave identical so that the best protection can be offered to the electric equipments and the protective reliability is improved. At the same time, ZnO arresters are able to absorb lightning overvoltage, operation overvoltage and power frequency transient overvoltage.
