Carbon dioxide extinguishes work by displacing oxygen, or taking away the oxygen element of the fire triangle

The carbon dioxide is also very cold as it comes out of the extinguisher,so it cools the fuel as well.CO2s may be ineffective at extinguishing Class A fires because they may not be able to displace enough oxygen to  successfully put the fire out.

1.Take out the fire extinguisher, and stand in the windward position of kindling point.

2.Pull out the linchpin and take the spout or tube in hand.

3.Point at the root of the fire in a place approx. 1.5m away from the fire.

4.Press the handle to make the airflow shoot at and cover the fire until it is extinguished completely.
