Wuyi Rock Tea is like a pearl of Wu-long Tea with a long history, produced in the rocks of Wuyi Mountain, Cong’an County at the north of Fujian Province. Its main species include Wuyi Narcissus, the Red Robe and so on, among which the Red Robe is the most precious one. It is said that in Ming Dynasty, there was a scholar (provincial graduate) being sick in Wuyi Mountain when he was on the way to take part in the examination held in the capital; then he met a monk who gave him the Red Robe Tea for drinking to cure his acute abdomen pain. The effect was so good that when he hit the Number One Scholar, he came back to Wuyi Mountain and extended his gratitude to the monk. When he knew where the tea trees were planted, he took off the Red Robe he wore as being the Number One Scholar, walked around the tea trees for three circles, and then put the robe on the trees. That is why we now have a tea called “Red Robe”.
