Panpaliya present a specialized range of pure cotton quilts, which is popular as Kantha Quilts 'patchwork kantha pattern'. This is handmade work and involves laborious work. It takes nearly a week to complete one such cotton kantha work but the end result is not only pure ecstasy but is an exemplary example of the quality and finish that our artisans have to offer. These are invaluable embroidered and hand worked pieces that are priced competitively. The quilts are traditionally made by women in poorer communities with limited resources. In West Bengal, where one of our partner organizations, New Light, is based, these quilts are called kantha quilts. This Vintage Throw Kantha Quilt is made of 100% Cotton Fabric. It has three layers of old recycled sarees stitched together with thousands of small & delicate fine running sturdily Kantha stitches, Hand crafted softly quilted handmade by artisans in India. Two good condition fabric is placed on both side of quilt and small pieces of fabric are placed in between in such a way that its equally spread (Batting/Wadding/Filler) and makes a three layer quilt, some time if both side fabric are thick enough then we don’t keep any middle stuff. Each Sari fabric has been washed before making the quilts and has not been used in its Kantha Throw form.

• The entire quilt is painstakingly hand embroidered with end number of straight running stitches to create a unique product, one of a kind (No two are alike), thus it’s a perfect GIFT too (Wedding Gift). All these make them a Vintage Kantha Quilt.

• It is an old age tradition in rural India to recycle used old sari for making quilts/throws. Kantha is still the most popular form of embroidery practiced by rural women in India. This is a normal part of the work for 100% handmade quilt, which adds more beauty to its character, but there won't be any compromise in quality.
