Product Features

The transportation of hazardous goods is regulated worldwide by a team of experts from the United Nations. They have established directives to prevent accidents, injuries and damage to property and not least to protect  public health and prevent pollution. At JYC Packaging, we test and design the bags so that they comply with all the requirements of a UN FIBC. This work is done in our own testing laboratories and is then ultimately certified officially by repeating the tests in an independent testing facility. The test results are the basis on which a unique UN number can be issued.13H1Y 13H1Z 13H2Y 13H2Z UN big bag

Dangerous products are classified by the United Nations by a unique UN product number. These product numbers and corresponding packaging group classifications can be found in the ‘orange book’.

There are four types of FIBCs for dangerous goods made from woven plastics:
13H1: woven PP without coating and without liner
13H2: woven PP, coated and without liner
13H3: woven PP, uncoated and with liner
13H4: woven PP, coated and with liner

The symbols below are used for the maximum permitted stacking weight or to indicate that stacking is not permitted.

A UN FIBC is subjected to the following tests:

Top lift test
The FIBC is loaded with six times the maximum load.

Drop test
Depending on the packaging group, the FIBC filled with the maximum load is dropped in an upright position from a height of 80 cm or 120 cm.

Topple test
Depending on the packaging group, the FIBC filled with the maximum load is toppled from a height of 80 cm or 120 cm.

Righting test
After being toppled, the FIBC filled with the maximum load is lifted to an upright position on one or two loops.

Tear test
A 100 mm tear is made on one of the sides of the FIBC filled with the maximum load. The FIBC is then filled with twice its maximum load for a minimum of five minutes. Finally, the FIBC is suspended with its SWL for another five minutes.

Stacking test
The FIBC filled with the maximum load is loaded with 1.8 times the weight that is permitted on top of the FIBC.
