Glass stairs or glass staircases are becoming more and more in vogue. BJD produce glass components for glass staircase systems; i.e. glass staircas and glass balustrade panels etc...

 

Glass staircase are generally manufactured using a combination of 10mm float and 25mm float, laminated together. A non slip surface can be achieved in several ways such as an all over sandblast and ritec coat finish or grooves to be cut into the front edge of the tread.

 

Approximately 1m² is usually considered to be a practical maximum area for each panel - due to handling considerations. The glasses should be installed with the thicker glass ply uppermply uppermost, and consideration must be given to the surface finish of the glass.
