Taper taps
The taper tap is a special fishing tool making thread in tube dropped object such as drill pipe and oil tube. The taps are turned from high trength alloy steel forging materials and heat treated. It is made withchipgroove so as to make threads. The box tap is a special external fishing tool which is engaged on theoutsidewall of tubing objects such as oil tubing and drill pipe.

Product Description
Rotary Taper Taps are simple, rugged, dependable internal catch fishing tools.
Operation: Run the taper tap in the hole to the top of the stuck fish, apply less than one point of weight, rotate the tap until the tapered threads have engaged the fish. Stop rotation, and pull the fish from the hole.
Features: Rotary Taper Taps are furnished in two types: Plain or Skirt type. Plain Taper Taps do not have a skirt thread provided on the shoulder. Skirt Type Taper Taps are threaded for a skirt. A skirt is used when the hole size is drastically different from the fish size. The taper tap can be dressed with a skirt or a skirt and oversize guide. This will allow for the taper tap to be guided into the fish more easily during the fishing operation.
Note: All skirt type taper taps are furnished with a thread protector. This will insure that the threads are not damaged if the taper tap is run in a fishing operation that does not require a skirt.
Rotary Taper Taps are furnished with hardened wickers, designed to engage even the most difficult fish. The wickers are offered in a plain, water-tight, non-fluted design, if circulation is required below the stuck point, or a fluted type, designed to flush out the cuttings
Note: Non-fluted watertight wickers are furnished standard. Fluted-type wickers must be specified when ordered if required. Left hand wickers and tool joint furnished on request.
Description: The Die Collar is manufactured from high grade alloy and specially heat treated. The hardened cutting teeth (wickers) are machined on a shallow taper (approximately 3/4 inch per foot) to provide an excellent grip and positive engagement. Plain watertight wicker's are furnished as standard equipment. Fluted wickers are also available on request. Die Collars are available with plain, lipped, or mill type bottom, or with threaded bottom for attaching a standard lipped or over-sized guide.
Assembly and Operation: Assemble the Die Collar to the bottom of the fishing string. Run in the hole until reaching the fish. Apply minimum weight (less than one point) and rotate sufficiently to allow the wicker threads to become embedded in the exterior surface of the fish.
Standard Components: A standard or over-sized guide can be assembled to the bottom of the Die Collar, if it has been ordered with the optional lower thread. When the hole size is considerably larger than the diameter of the fish, there may be sufficient room for the Die Collar to pass alongside of the fish without engaging it. In this case, an over-sized guide can be used to assure fish engagement and to properly guide the fish into the Die Collar.
Standard Die Collars are supplied with right-hand threads. Left-hand threads are available on request at no extra charge.
