B1488 This work is embroidered according to Giuseppe Castiglione’s painting ‘Begonia & Magnolia’, who is a court painter in Qing dynasty. It show a vivid and colorful design, flowers and birds form delightful contrast. The artist Baimei Ling embroidered this work. She mainly used flatting needle-punched with more than 50 kinds of stitching colors. The artist split one single silk thread into 16 strands and then use the 1/4-1/2 thread to embroider the skin.
