Mattresses are relatively small in height and are generally used for channel linings. It can be prefilled with stone.

Mattresses, like gabions, are wire fabric containers, uniformly partitioned, of variable size, 

interconnected with other similar containers and filled with stone at the site of use,

to form flexible, permeable, monolithic structures 

such as retaining walls, sea walls, channel linings, revetments and weirs for earth retention.

  Wire 2.2mm, selvedge wire 2.7mm

  Heavily galvanized or PVC coated

 

It can be prefilled with stone and lift to the position under the water.
