Introduction:

Cenosphere, sometimes called microsphere, is a light weight, inert, hollow sphere made largely ofsilica and alumina andfilled with air or inert gas., typically produced as a byproduct of coalcombustion at thermal power plants. The color varies from gray to almost white and their density is about 0.6-0.9g/cm³, all these property give it a widely application for insulation,refractory,oil drilling,coating,construction use.

Cenosphere Features:

1) Excellent fluidity

In hollow microspherical shape and with size from 20 to 500micron,cenospheres can improve Fluidity of filler and make it easier to be used .

2) Heat-insulating and sound-insulating

Lower conductivity makes it widely used in producing heat-insulation and soundinsulation materials and Equipments.

3) Chemical stability

Chemical features (alumina silicate) of cenospheres can maintain their integrity while they are utilized in Water,organic chemicals acid,alkali and other solvents.

4) High refractoriness

Cenospheres have a high refractoriness. It can still keep a good stability while being heated over 1000C.

5) High Strength

Cenospheres are three to ten times stronger than most manmade hollow glass spheres.Unlike glass spheres,Cenospheres can produce a higher compressive strength due to a stronger outer shell.

6) Lower cost

Cenospheres have an advantage in cost compared with other fillers and man-aade micro spheres.

Application of Cenosphere:

1. Paints and ink: ink, bond, vehicle putty, insulating, antiseptic, fireproof paints.

2. Plastics: the products of POM ,PA,PBT,PET,PP and so on. Like panels, boards, vehicle decorations, glass fiber products.

3. Rubber: floors,boards ,wires and lines ,insulating devices, sole, conveyer belt, vehicle parts and bodies, fender-guard, etc.

4. Construction materials: fire and water-proof materials, processed asphaltum, high-level road pavement, concrete repair materials.

5. Encapsulation material: transformer filling material ,electric encapsulation material, electric encapsulation materials.

6. Glass steel products: glass steel furniture, boats, etc.

7.Space or military products: explosives, invisible paints for planes, ships and even soldiers, heat and compression insulating compounds, deep-water submarine.700/mt.
