1.Simple Introduction Carbon fiber tube can be used to replace or substitute aluminum or steel tubes in a wide range of projects. 3.Techniques:Roll Wrapping and Pultrusion
♦Roll Wrapping
The phrase 'roll wrapped' refers to the process used to manufacture these tubes. The pre-preg carbon fiber is first laid up around a mandrel in multiple layers. Once the reinforcement is in place it is spiral wrapped with heat-shrink tape (this is what gives roll-wrapped tubes their characteristic ribbed appearance) before the whole assembly is oven cured.Roll wrapped carbon fiber tubes offer superior strength in general use to 'pultruded' tubes (which have all their fibers running in exactly the same direction). This is because forces on a tube are rarely exclusively in straight compression or tension, whereby the unidirectional fibers of a pultruded tube are not ideal.
♦Pultrusion
Pultrusion process is a kind of method to make continuous composite profiles,which use the twistless roving on the creel with other continuous reinforced composites, polyester surface mat,ect. to proceed the resin impregnation, and then keep the forming mould at certain section, make the continuous depanning after curing in the intramode.
