Seal or Signature stamp for office

Ancient China is considered to be the origin of the present seal or signature stamp. The seal system was legislated during the era of Shi Huangdi (the first emperor of China) in B.C. 221, and the seal came to have a role as the authentication of the letter of appointment etc.

The seal system was introduced to Japan in the year 57 and the seal has been used in various occasions such as opening the bank account, concluding commercial contracts to authenticate the documents. 

By stamping the seal on a certain document, you can officially prove that the document is made and certified by you. In that sense, the seal is not just a tool but it is you yourself. Therefore, we believe that more attention should be paid in selecting the seal or signature stamp.

1 Traditional Chinese

    Oldest Chinese character script originated from inscriptions on bones and tortoise carapaces about 5,500 years ago in China and was standardized during the era of Shi Huangdi. Most popular seal script in present Chine.

2 Insotai or Seal script font

     Script designed as seal script in Japan based on Traditional Chinese.

     Each one script designed to spread to eight directions to invite luck. Therefore, also called Lucky script.

 3 Kointai orOld seal script font

     Another seal script designed in Japan. Elegant and easy readability.

 Forefathers of SAITO ENGRAVING LTD was a manufacturer of Tsuba (handguard) of Samurai's Nihonntoh (Japanese sword) .

We have developed our ancestral artistic workmanship used for handguard to make our jewelry products.

The brand name of the jewelry which we made is “HORIGIN”

 The designs of our products are Japanese taste, Asian taste, European taste, ancient Egyptian taste and so on. (please see the pictures)  

Our products are all hand made by our skilled craftsmen.

Respecting and cherishing our ancestral technique from our company foundation in 1916,

we have applied cutting edge fine metal carving technology.

Our craftsmen, with their traditional tools such as file and gravers and modern microscope,

can precisely engrave even one fine-whisker of a dragon on our jewelry.

Company Information (History)

  Our company's history dates back to the Edo period.

Forefathers of SAITO ENGRAVING LTD was a manufacturer of Tsuba (handguard) of Samurai's Nihonntoh (Japanese sword) .

 Besides handguard, Nihontoh is made of many other parts such as Kozuka (accessory knife),  Menuki (hilt ornaments), Kogai (hair pick accessory) that have carved decorations.

Our origin dates back to the year 1690 when Bushuu Ito school of the craft was first founded by Masanaga Ito.  

The school provided many craftsmen who were retained by the Tokugawa shogunate and the handguards made by the craftsmen of the school spread over Japan.

 However, after the decree banning the wearing of swords was promulgated,

 the demand of the handguards dramatically declined and the craftsmen were gradually forced to change their products from sword related ones to other others such as pipes, netsuke (miniature carving attached to the end of a cord hanging from a pouch), kanzashi (ornamental hairpins) etc.

  Horigin is the third generation of Einosuke Saito, branch family of Ito family, who started this business in 1916 carrying the craftsmanship of the traditional Ito school.
