SHERMAN Surface Corona Treatment Pen
Introduction
Corona pen, also known as surface tension test pen, dyne pen, pen of corona treatment, plastic film surface tension detection pen. Corona pen is the testing tool to test corona (dynes) of the film’s surface , and specifically for measuring the effect of thin film by a corona treatment. The various specifications corona pen can accurately test the plastic film surface tension whether to reach the values in the test pen. It gives users a clear understanding whether this film is suitable for printing, compositing or vacuum aluminum plating, so it can effectively control the quality and reduce the losses caused by substandard material.
Scope of Application
For use in gravure printing, offset printing, UV printing, screen printing, Tie-dyed printing, inkjet printing, dry lamination, extrusion compound, blown film, T-extruded film, stretched film, coating, Aluminum plating.

After the use, please be sure to cover tightly with the pen cap.Please avoid direct sunlight, put it in the shade.Effective period: 6 ~ 8 months.
Suitable materials
Plastic film class: PS, PE, PP, PET, PI and PCs, NY, CPP, OPP, PVC,
Conductive material: aluminum foil, copper foil, a carbon foil, vapor deposition film.
Other materials: glass, ceramic, plastic sheets, plastic pipe and so on.
General knowledge of Purchase
Generally, the substrate forms droplets and coating, and paste capability is related to surface energy. If the surface energy of the plastic film such as PP, PE, PET is lower than the tension of the coated surface of the test liquid, it will form the bead line and the drawing line will shrink. Thus, to the majority of printing, plastic solvent, the requirements of the test pen must be between 36-40 dyne / cm. While liquid ink requires test pen between 40-44 dyne /cm. Rolling and coating applications requires the surface energy about 50 dynes / cm or more. Obviously, before printing, coating and laminating, there is a need to estimate the energy of the surface first.
The method of measure the dyne value
Use the dyne pen to draw a line on the surface of material,after 2 to 3 seconds, you can watch the line to see whether it shrink and form the water bead point.If there exists the water bead point.If there exist,change a lower level numberial dyne pen to draw a line until it doesn’t shrink without water dead point to confirm the tension value of the article’s surface.
Dyne test result analysis:
1,Painting line is evenly distributed with no bead point,it states that the plastic film surface tension is highter than value markde on the dyne pen.it allowed to print at this case.
2,The painting line is shrinking slowly,it states that the plastic film surface tension is lower than the value marked on the dyne pen.It can’t have an effective printing result at this case.
3,The painting line is shrinking sharply and form the bead point.It states that the plastic film surface tension is lower than the value marked on the dyne pen largely.In this case it can’t allowed to print.
