Amphoteric ionic PAM is the terpolymer of cationic monomer, acrylamide monomer and hydrolytic reagent. The product is amphoteric ion irregular polymer with positive charges and negative charges on its molecular chain. Its appearance is white fine grains or powdery solids.

1. Flocculation: PAM has the ability to bridge together particles suspended in solution by an adsorption process. Polymers often have electrostatic charges that allow for surface particle neutralization resulting in flocculation.
2. Adsorption and Adhesion: PAM creates reversible covalent bonds between particle surfaces allowing the particle to gain size and mass.
3. Friction Reduction: PAM can effectively reduce fluid friction in a pipe. The friction loss can be minimized by 50-80% with small amounts of PAM added to a liquid.
4. Thickening: PAM is used to thicken a variety of sludges in both neutral and acidic conditions. PAM used for thicken can have additional structures such as branched and cross-linked. PAM will hydrolyze at ph values above 10.

1. Sludge Dewatering Agent
    As to the property of urban sewage drainage is more and more complicated, the requirements of sludge dewatering agent is also higher at the same time. So the amphoteric ion polyacrylamide treatment effect is better than the single ionic polyacrylamide. Especially, the effect is very well when used in the sludge dewatering of oil fields and chemicals factories.

2. Water Treatment Flocculant
    When the water treatment situation is complicated, the amphoteric ion polyacrylamide treatment effect of reducing the surface tension is much better than the one of the separate existence of cation or anion at the same condition.
