Huawei SmartAX MA5606T olt gepon
The SmartAX MA5606T Multi-service Access Module (hereafter referred to as the MA5606T)
provides access for a small number of users by subtending with the MA5600T. The MA5606T
is also capable of providing gigabit-capable passive optical network (GPON) uplink
connection, thus realizing fiber to the curb (FTTC) access by working with the optical line
terminal (OLT).
The MA5606T is a mini-digital subscriber line access multiplexer (mini-DSLAM) of Huawei.
The MA5606T provides the following functions:
As a mini-DSLAM, it provides access for a small number of users independently or by
subtending with the MA5606T
As a multi-dwelling unit (MDU) in a gigabit-capable passive optical network (GPON), it
provides GPON upstream connection, and realizes fiber to the curb (FTTC) access by
coordinating with the optical line terminal (OLT).
Abundant Ports
This section provides the port type, and description of the ports of the MA5606T.
The MA5606T provides various upstream ports, service ports and maintenance ports to adapt
to different network environments.
Table 1-1 lists the physical ports of the MA5606T.
Table 1-1 Physical ports of the MA5606T
Port Type | Port | Description |
Upstream port | GE optical port | GE optical ports use the small form-factor pluggable (SFP) optical transceiver. Through different SFP transceivers, the optical ports support different transmission distances. Single-mode SFP transceiver and multi-mode SFP transceiver are available. |
GPON port | It uses the single-mode optical transceiver, and supports bidirectional data transmission over one optical fiber. | |
Service port | VDSL2 port | VDSL2 complies with ITU-T G.993.2 and is compatible with ADSL, ADSL2, and ADSL2+. VDSL2 support the maximum transmission distance of 3.5 km. |
Maintenance Port | Maintenance serial port Maintenance network port | It is used for local and remote maintenance. |
Environment monitoring serial port | Various environment parameters are collected by the monitoring device and then through this port reported to the MA5606T. |
Flexible Networking
This topic provides information about the network solutions of the MA5606T.
As a multi-service access platform, the MA5606T supports multiple access modes to suit
various network scenarios in different environments. The MA5606T provides the following
network solutions:
Broadband multi-service access solution
The MA5606T supports the broadband service access, mainly xDSL access. In addition, the
MA5606T supports subtending network configurations through the Ethernet ports.
Triple play solution
Triple play users, including Internet access users, VoIP users, and video users, are connected
to the MA5606T through the home gateway. After processing the service packets from these
users, the MA5606T transmits the packets to the upper layer device.
FTTC solution
The MA5606T can function as a multi-tenant unit (MDU) to connect users to the OLT in
upstream through the GE port, thus realizing FTTC access.
Operable IPTV Service
This topic provides information about the operable IPTV services supported by the
MA5606T.
The MA5606T supports the following carrier-class multicast capabilities:
Large switching capacity
High packet forwarding rate
High integration of data switching, routing, and user management functions
The MA5606T provides flexible multicast solutions by supporting Internet Group
Management Protocol Version 2 (IGMPv2) and IGMPv3 on the user side interface and the
network side interface. This lays the foundation for operability and manageability of
broadband multicast services.
Multicast Protocols
IGMPv2 and IGMPv3
IGMP proxy and IGMP snooping
Multicast Service Functions
1024 multicast groups
Easy channel management
Configurable maximum number of preview times in a day
Audience statistics
IGMP pre-join, fast-leave, and high performance processing, which enable the
broadband TV (BTV) service
Management on the programs and users based on the multicast VLAN
Dropping of downstream broadcast packets, unknown unicast packets, and unknown
multicast packets on a service board based on the VLAN
Dropping of upstream multicast packets on a service board based on the VLAN
Multicast User Management Functions
Multiple modes for authenticating multicast users to meet the requirements of different
multicast operators Controllable multicast to control the users' access to multicast groups
The transaction language 1 (TL1) interface on the Huawei iManager N2000 BMS
Network Management System (hereafter referred to as the N2000 BMS) that enables the
operation support system (OSS) to control the right of multicast service users
