Huawei OSN 1800 LQPL
4-channel GPON (OLT side)/OC-48/OTU1 service hybrid transmission and convergence wavelength
conversion board
Integrated with both OTN and WDM features, the OptiX OSN 1800 enables various services at the metropolitan network edge, such as broadband, leased line, and mobile services, to share WDM network resources for unified transmission of services on the same network. The following issues of access and transport networks can be resolved:
How to realize unified transmission of multiple services ranging from 100 Mbit/s to 10 Gbit/s
How to provide networks with long-haul transmission features and fewer transmission nodes
How to slash maintenance and operation costs
How to effectively reduce the ever-increasing equipment power consumption and electricity costs
How to realize smooth upgrade of networks and safeguard investments
Features
Transmission of all services over a single network: the OptiX OSN 1800 encapsulates all services, from low-rate services (such as FE services) to high-bandwidth services (such as 10G services of any protocol), into OTN frames for transmission. The xPON is applied to reduce fiber attenuation in the PON system deployed in urban areas and provide a reliable protection solution within 50 ms. A highly integrated 1 U chassis can access 16 GE services and 2 U chassis can access 48 GE services.
Long-distance transmission with fewer nodes: The standard OTN interface supports the forward error correction (FEC) function. After OTN technology is applied to the traditional CWDM system, a transmission distance of up to 120 km (33 dB) is supported, a great improvement compared to the traditional 80 km limit. When EDFA is added, the transmission can be further increased to 170 km, long enough for metropolitan transmission.
Lower maintenance cost and operation cost: Multi-service, long-distance, and large-capacity transmission helps simplify the network structure. The service processing and switching equipment, network management system (NMS), and OSS are all configured at the central node in the system. Equipment with simplified transport functions is deployed in unattended equipment rooms in remote areas for wide coverage. OTN inband management is supported. Unified management and maintenance of all SDH and WDM/OTN equipment can be achieved without any additional investment on the NMS.
Hybrid networking of CWDM and DWDM: This networking mode enables smooth upgrade from CWDM to DWDM.
Environment-friendly with lower power consumption: The "All over WDM/OTN" technology helps service equipment be deployed centrally at large sites and directly connected to the client equipment by distance extension technology. The number of end nodes can be decreased by 30% to 90%. The OptiX OSN 1800 adopts natural heat dissipation and uses AC power. The case-like design facilitates flexible deployment at any site. A typical 1 U chassis consumes less than 25 W, which is less than the power consumption of a table lamp.
Applications & Benefits
According to information released by Ovum, a well-known consulting firm in the telecom industry, by 2012 Huawei led the global optical network market, WDM/OTN market, and 100G/40G market, as well as the backbone WDM market. Huawei WDM/OTN solution has served 39 of the worldwide top 50 carriers.
