The modern Hoffman kiln takes the form of two parallel tunnels built side by side, connected by curved tunnels at either end, the basic principal of the moving firing zone, coupled with continuous loading and unloading. The arch of the tunnel being is supported on the side walls. In order to increase output, continuous kilns with longer circuits through which the firing zone travels more rapidly are built. Two firing zones run simultaneously are possible on the larger kilns, with a high rate of firing travel, assisted by a strong fan system and sending waste heat for brick drying. Some kilns can be 500 feet long.

Automatic controls can be programmed to make firing changes for differences in product size and color.

4. High capacity

Pushers move the train of cars non-stop at a predetermined rate. This method is ideal for all ceramic industries requiring high volume production and/or a continuous production process
