Series Expansion "Mono-Block Holder" Added to the "GY Series" Grooving SystemThe existing GY Series has received a favorable reception as a breakthrough in grooving tools that offers the ultimate in rigidity with a unique clamping technology called TRI-LOCK. This modular type holder (1) system realizes high efficiency machining. A newly developed mono-block type holder with zero offset between the holder and cutting edge has been released to complement the existing range.

 

 

 

Features of the zero offset mono-block holder 1.The tool offset compensation can be easily set because the offset between the side of the holder and the cutting edge   is zero mm. 2.Mono-block type holders with high rigidity can improve surface finishes and prevent vibration. 3.The price of mono-block holders is less than modular types, although the application range is limited compared to modular types that have interchangeable parts.

 (1) Modular type holder: A modular type holder is a tool that is made from separate but modular parts that are interchangeable between tools. This means in the event of damage, or if another type of tool is required, it is possible to replace only a single part rather than the whole tool. Ground Insert for Multifunctional Machining with MF breaker added to Grooving System “GY Series”“GY Series” has received a favorable reception as a breakthrough tool that offers ultimate rigidity and accuracy when grooving. Its unique clamping technology TRI-LOCK System (1) has dramatically increased stability which is a weak point in Modular type holder (2). 

To meet the demand in achieving high efficient machining using grooving holder, Ground Insert for Multifunctional Machining with MF breaker has been added to the Grooving System “GY Series”.

The new MC6015 grade for steel turning fulfils that need by delivering substantially better wear resistance through the adoption of an optimized crystal growth, Nano-Texture Coating Technology. This coating technology permits high speed, efficient machining even at high temperatures. Furthermore, MC6025 expanded the range of applications it could be applied to by adding a chip breaker for the medium interrupted and general purpose machining area.

BC8110 achieves high efficiency cutting with extended tool life that requires fewer tool changes and also maintains high quality surface finishes even during the extended tool life period.

An improvement of productivity when machining these parts is essential.CVD coated carbide grades especially have required further improvements in wear and fracture resistance during high speed cutting. To satisfy this demand, the CVD coated carbide grades for cast iron turning, "MC5005" and "MC5015" were released in November 2013 and have received a favorable reception as a tool that realizes high speed and high efficiency when machining cast iron.179 new inserts for turning of cast iron have been added that include a range of larger sized inserts and a wiper type insert to allow wider range of applications.

Features: 1.MC5005 and MC5015 achieve superior wear resistance when turning cast iron due to the CVD nano-coated layer with high strength. This layer is formed using the synergistic effects between "Nano-texture coating technology" and "TOUGH-GRIP Technology"2.The CVD coated carbide grade MC5005 adopts an Al2O3 super thick layer, which is the thickest    in the world, so it can provide higher wear resistance than ceramics during continuous machining of gray cast iron at a cutting speed of 600m/min. 3.The CVD coated carbide grade MC5015 is not only a general purpose grade with an optimum balance of sharpness and wear resistance, but it is also a tough grade that can provide excellent fracture resistance during interrupted machining of high hardness ductile cast iron FCD700. 4.Inserts without a clamping hole are also available for high speed cutting and have been added  with the breakers suitable for cast iron turning; LK breaker (light cutting), MK breaker (medium cutting), and RK breaker (rough cutting).

(1) Nano-Texture Coating Technology: Nano-Texture Coating Technology is the technology that controls the particle size of the coating at level much more minute than conventional sizes. This improves the strength of the CVD coated layer and leads to excellent wear and fracture resistance. 

(2) TOUGH-GRIP Technology: Tough-GRIP Technology is the technology that greatly enhances the interlayer adhesion of the CVD coated layers. This maintains the interface structure of coating at a nano level and prevents delamination.

Series Expansion New Insert Series for Turning of Difficult-to-cut Materials In recent years there has been a widespread shift towards the use of difficult-to-cut materials such as titanium alloy, heat resistant and corrosion resistant alloys in various industries, in particular the aircraft and medical field. Difficult-to-cut materials have low thermal conductivity that causes rapid increases in cutting edge temperature. This causes the problems such as jamming of continuous chips and chipping of the edge due to welding and vibration during high efficiency machining. To solve the problems, new optimized insert grades "MP9015"/"MP9005"/"MP9015" for turning of difficult-to-cut materials were released in November 2013. These new grades have received a favorable reception in the market place by providing superior wear, fracture and welding resistance, as well as longer tool life.To cover a wide range of applications, 64 new inserts for turning of difficult-to-cut materials have been added and are mainly focused the popularly requested larger size of insert.

Features: 1.PVD coated carbide grades "MP9015/MP9005" for turning difficult-to-cut materials achieve long tool life when turning superalloys by using a high (Al,Ti)N single layer coating that is controlled during manufacture by Al-rich technology. The coating is combined with the LS, MS and RS breakers that are also specialized for turning of difficult-to-cut materials.  2.Carbide grade "MT9015" for turning of difficult-to-cut materials" possesses both superior wear and fracture resistance. When combining this grade with the LS, MS or RS breaker, it gives longer tool life when turning titanium alloys.  3.Allows a wide range of different machining applications when using the LS breaker that is optimized for light cutting, MS breaker optimized for medium cutting and the RS breaker optimized for roughing. All breakers will be available as standard items.

 (Terminology): Al-rich technology:Al-rich technology is a new coating technology that increases the content of aluminum. The high Al leads to improved layer hardness and oxidation onset temperature and stabilizes the high hardness layer. Furthermore, it delivers overwhelmingly high wear, fracture, crater and welding resistance.

PVD Coated Carbide Grade for Stainless Steel Turning "MP7035"Stainless steel has been used in various fields such as for household goods, building parts, automobile parts and chemical industrial parts. Stainless steel has low thermal conductivity, tends to be sticky and is subjected to work hardening, thus leading to the following problems: 1) It is prone to lower the tool life due to plastic deformation of the cutting edge, 2) It is prone to have abnormal damage due to welding, 3) It is prone to form burrs due to major flank notch of depth of cut. It is therefore well known as being difficult to machine. To address these problems, newly developed LM/MM/RM/GM breaker for stainless steel turning and new grades; MC7015/MC7025 (CVD coated carbide grade)/MP7035 (PVD coated carbide grade) were released at December 2012. Moreover, 134 items were added to the insert series for stainless steel turning at April 2013.These series make it possible to carry out stable machining to cover a wide range of different machining applications that lead to improved productivity. Thus these items are highly commended by customers. To allow wider range of applications, LM/MM breakers for 7° positive insert and 5° positive insert have been added to PVD Coated Carbide Grade for Stainless Steel Turning "MP7035". Therefore, "Insert Series for Stainless Steel Turning" have been expanded.

Features of "Insert Series for Stainless Steel Turning" 1.7°/5° positive breaker for light cutting: LM breaker : The large rake angle optimizes chip flow and controls welding of workpiece materials, thereby achieving good finished surface 2.7°/5° positive breaker for steel medium cutting: MM breaker: The flat land edge and large rake angle achieves a good balance between wear resistance and fracture resistance. This enables high efficiency machining.

Add New Breaker Systems to Cermet Grade for Steel Turning "MP3025" and "NX2525"In actual production lines, the parts manufacturers, including the automotive industry, are working towards the reduction of downtime in production line caused by abnormal fracturing of tool and the shortening of actual machining hours to increase their productivity.Total 259 items; LP/RP breaker for negative insert and newly developed FP/LP/MP breaker for 7°/5° positive insert for steel turning were released at April 2013. These series make it possible to carry out stable machining to cover a wide range of different machining applications that lead to improved productivity. Thus these items are highly commended by customers.To allow wider range of applications, FP/LP/MP breakers have been added to Cermet Grade for Steel Turning "MP3025"/"NX2525" for 7° positive insert and 5° positive insert. Therefore, "Insert Series for Steel Turning" have been expanded.
