The pungency of paprika powder/pods

The pungency of paprika powder is determined by its capsaicin content. If the capsaicin content exceeds 200 mg/kg, we call the paprika powder hot.

 The measurement of pungency is the so-called Scoville Heat Units which was named after its American inventor Wilbur Scoville. In Scoville's method, a solution of the pepper extract is diluted in sugar syrup until the "heat" is no longer detectable. The degree of dilution gives its measure on the Scoville scale.

(4)Rose paprika powder: Homogenously ground, slightly mosaic-like appearance, appropriate particle size, faded red base colour with yellowish-brownish tone, typical scent and flavour, mildly hot
