Product Features

Effective April 1, 2022, FCC ID certification changes to new regulatory requirements.

The FCC issued a notice to officially implement new regulations for portable devices in human contact on March 31, 2019, which will reduce the transmitting power limit (beyond which SAR is mandatory). That is to say, human contact portable devices as soon as possible to apply for FCCID.

To make it easier for you to understand, let me give you an example:

Portable devices less than 1:1 MW (0dBm) are exempt from SAR;

2: The following typical equipment has updated the limit requirements:

1) 2.4GWIFI and Bluetooth 5mm human contact portable devices;

2) 5.2GWIFI 5mm contact portable devices;

3) 5.8GWIFI 5mm human contact portable devices.

To sum up, portable products with WLAN function must do SAR, and can't avoid doing SAR by reducing the power as before. The new limit is too low, and portable products with Bluetooth should not have too much power, and they should do SAR even when the power is too high.

In fact, this requirement is to upgrade the old standard KDB 447498D01 to the new standard KDB 447498D04 according to the new FCC standard.

It is worth mentioning that the emergence of new standards may lead to increased testing costs and certification cycles for some products of sellers.

Which specific electronics will be affected?

For battery-powered portable electronics, SAR cannot be exempted from the new regulations, and the use of products within 5mm, such as Bluetooth headsets, wristbands, watches, mobile phones, laptops, tablets, MP3s, AR devices, pedometers and other electronic products. In the FCC section, if the power does not meet the new exemption requirements, SAR testing is performed.

Questions about the new FCC Standards

1. What is the impact of the new standard on cross-border sellers?

If the transmitting power of the product exceeds the limit specified in the new standard, SAR measurement shall be carried out, and the testing cost and certification period will be increased accordingly.

2. The product has obtained FCC ID certificate before the new standard. Do you need to update it now?

No update is required, and the certificate is valid.

3. The product is applying for FCC ID. How should I choose?

If you are in a hurry to sell, it is recommended to choose the old label, but you must obtain the FCC ID certificate before March 31.

"Language

Since March 7, Amazon has required the sellers of all products that meet the FCC standards to upload the certification information according to the US certification requirements, otherwise the products will be restricted and sold in accordance with the US policy.

Now, the United States certification authority also implemented a new requirement, requiring the implementation of new standards on April 1, for sellers, this also virtually raised the bar.

Therefore, we advise sellers to register in advance if they need to sell their products before March 31 to avoid the new standards affecting your certification cycle and testing costs.
