Brand Name Allen-Bradley
Model Number 1756-IA16

Product Features

Allen-Bradley ControlLogix 16 Pt D/I 120V AC Module 1756-IA16 With Good Price In Stock

The ControlLogix system provides discrete, drives, motion, process, and safety control together with communication and  state-of-the-art I/O in a small, cost-competitive package. The system is modular, so you can design, build, and modify it  efficiently with significant savings in training and engineering.

1756 Removable Terminal Blocks Removable terminal blocks (RTBs) provide a flexible interconnection between your plant wiring and  1756 I/O modules. The RTB plugs into the front of the I/O module. The type of module determines the  RTB you need. You can choose screw-clamp or spring-clamp RTBs. RTBs are not shipped with I/O modules. You must order them separately. The standard housing on the  front of the wiring arm is not necessarily deep enough for 2.5 mm2  (14 AWG) wiring. If you plan to use  2.5 mm2  (14 AWG) wiring, also order the extended housing. For more information on Extended-Depth  Housing, see Rockwell Automation Knowledgebase article #41488, Use of the 1756-TBE Extended  Terminal Housing

The 1756-IA16 is manufactured by Allen-Bradley and it comes from the ControlLogix 1756 series of input/output modules. This module is the input module to be used with ControlLogix controllers to provide the controlling of industrial machinery. This is a digital input module with 16 inputs. It operates at 24 Volts DC or 120 Volts AC, having a maximum power dissipation of just 5.8 Watts. The 1756-IA16 consumes around 2 mA and has a low cyclic updating time of just 100 microseconds. The operating temperature range is from 0 to 60 degrees Celsius with a non-operating range of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius. The function of this module is to detect actuation signals in the form of High/Low signals that enable the controller to trigger the output signals for any given industrial process. This module and others belonging to the same series can provide additional functions if required. These input modules are highly efficient and flexible to work with most consumer network models.

One great advantage with this module is the ability to insert and remove the module without cutting off power. This is a time saver, especially for industries and it ultimately adds to production. This feature is known as RIUP or Removal and Insertion Under Power. To provide better efficiency, the module also features self-diagnostic tools to detect any faults during operation. This reduces repair and troubleshooting time and it allows the users to easily rid the system from any modular problem. There is a system timestamp feature which uses a 64-bit system clock. The 1756-IA16 timestamps the data transfer which can be useful while diagnostic operations. There is a communication feature which allow the modules to transfer data to other system devices without getting polled. The input module must be installed in a ControlLogix chassis with the chassis being already grounded. Ensure that the system is electrostatically discharged and wear proper equipment to avoid any shock. Improper installation of the 1756-IA16 could lead to device malfunction as well as injuries
