Brief introduction:
Silicon Carbide, also known as carborundum, is produced by melting a mixture of sillica sand and cokes in ultra high power electric furnaces. Silicon Carbide/ SiC is chemically stable and has high corrosion resistance, which makes it hard to corrode from exposure to alkali or acid. Silicon carbide is also characterized by its high hardness, outstanding heat resistance, low thermal expansion, resistance to chemical reaction, and ability to function as a semiconductor. SiC is suitable for cupola and electric furnace, widely used in iron foundries and in steel mills as deoxidizing agent,
especially in ladle furnaces and electric arc furnaces during slag treatment. Silicon carbide / SiC can improve the temperature of molten steel rapidly, shorten the melting time, play the role of deoxidizing, increasing carbon and silicon, heating to improve the quality of steel.
Silicon Metal lump was produced in electric heating furnace by quartz and coke. Quartz will be redox and became molten silicon liquid. After cooling, it will be solid as we see. The primal silicon metal lump is very large. Then it will be made
into smaller lumps which we call standard size. Silicon Metal Lumps will be 10-100mm.
Typical models includes: Silicon Metal 2202; Silicon Metal 3303; Silicon Metal 441; Silicon Metal 553, Silicon Metal Off Grade.
